The most famous organ work in the world is known by everyone, however, its creation is surrounded by mystery…
According to a significant amount of the proofs it was created at the beginning of the 1700’s, although the perfectionist structure of the piece suggests that Bach created it in his last years, moreover, some tells that he composed it originally for violin and not the organ.
The first printed publishing took almost 100 years, when the great Bach fan, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy published and played continuously the work. Since then, endless versions and adaptations have been created, the worthily famous Toccata and Fugue in d-minor can be heard in movies, it is a beloved theme mostly in horror and thriller movies.
